BIBLE HILL – Taxes, swimming and oily foods are only a few of the cultural shocks Jack Nam has faced during his time in Bible Hill.
The 14-year-old Korean, who attends school in Shanghai, has spent a month in Bible Hill as part of the International Student Summer Camp, hosted by the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board.
“I came to learn English and French,” he said. “People are always smiling here ... people are not as kind in Shanghai.”
When Jack first arrived he felt a bit out of place because he didn’t know anyone. That has changed.
At least 350 students, ages 11 to 18, are expected to join the camp, held at the AgriTech Park. Thailand, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, China, Korea, costa brava Spain, Japan, Taiwan and Canadian students are participating in the camp between one and nine weeks.
